Koolyanobbing (WSA 100% of nickel rights)

The Koolyanobbing project, located approximately  180 km north of Western Areas' Forrestania operations, lies within the linear Koolyanobbing Greenstone Belt, which is part the Southern Cross terrain. The host komatiitic ultramafic rocks extend for some twenty kilometres along the entire length of the North Koolyanobbing Range. Four priority areas, including the Jock's Dream prospect area, have been selected for additional exploratory work. These are areas in which geochemical and/or geophysical drill targets have been located, and will now receive drill testing.

At Jocks Dream, drilling within a 1.5 km strike zone enclosing the prospect areas, has returned the best previous result of 6.7m at 2.6% nickel from early explorers, BHP and Delta Gold. Western Areas has intersected nickel sulphides including 1m @ 4.0% nickel in shallow drilling 250m northwest of Jocks Dream. The 500m long nickel sulphide zone discovered in the 1970s and extended by Western Areas using a combination of IP surveys and RC drilling occurs as massive and stringer sulphides and provides encouragement that significant massive nickel sulphides will be intersected. Further drilling will be undertaken at the Jocks Dream prospect to test for strike and depth extensions of the existing mineralisation.

Reassessment of old surface electromagnetic (TEM) and magnetic data, as well as, integration of the results of a recently completed electromagnetic (EM) geophysical survey completed along the host komatiitic ultramafic rocks some 4 km to the north west of Jocks Dream has identified multiple EM anomalies. These anomalies, as well as the other two prospect areas, will be drill tested this financial year.
